NICHT diese mittelalterlichen verballhornungen davon, sondern ALTE!!
(no eso-quark), "möglichst alte", -- es gibt zwar äußerst VIELE, die sind aber oftmals schwierig&umstritten zu datieren ... ;-)
vorstufen ab gut 3-4.000 v.chr.
z.B.: beispiele&leselink...

jeder kennt "das" spätere kretische : buchhalter-tontafel pylos ~ 1.200 und auf münzen ~ 500 - 100 v.chr.,
weit vor "kreta" gibts noch welche in nordeuropa, außerdem in syrien, ägypten und sizilien.
viele englische und irische befinden sich zwar auf/in megalithgräbern - aber umstritten von WANN se graviert wurden.
-dasselbige "natürlich" auch in indien,ceylon,.. - und amerika, von 1.000 vor bis 1.000 nach chr.

Cauldside Burn Rock Carving County: Kirkcudbrightshire (Dumfries & Galloway) O.S. Grid Ref: NX 528 574 Located on Cambret Moor, some 3.3 miles (5.4 km) ESE of Creetown, this rectangular block of whinstone is carved with a spiral which measures 2 ft (0.6 m) across and has six convolutions.
The stone forms an approximate alignment along ca. 160 degrees with a large cairn and the Cauldside Burn stone circle, some 1180 ft (360 m) away across the stream (NX 529 571). The alignment was possibly intended to indicate the winter solstice sunrise.
